Spinal Decompression Therapy

Gentle Relief for Back and Neck Pain

Spinal Decompression Therapy offers a safe, non-surgical solution for relieving chronic back and neck pain caused by disc injuries, nerve compression, or spinal degeneration.
This advanced therapy gently stretches the spine to reduce pressure on discs and nerves — promoting natural healing, improved mobility, and lasting pain relief.

What Is Spinal Decompression Therapy?

Spinal decompression is a clinically proven, computer-controlled traction therapy that creates gentle, sustained stretches in the spine.
This process helps:

  • Relieve pressure on spinal discs and nerves
  • Increase space between vertebrae
  • Enhance nutrient and oxygen flow to damaged tissues
  • Promote healing of bulging or herniated discs

Unlike traditional traction, decompression therapy is precisely controlled and highly comfortable, ensuring safe and effective results.

Conditions Treated with Spinal Decompression

Our physiotherapists often recommend spinal decompression for:

  • Herniated or bulging discs
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Sciatica or nerve root compression
  • Chronic lower back pain
  • Neck pain or stiffness
  • Spinal arthritis or joint dysfunction
  • Postural imbalances and nerve irritation
Benefits of Spinal Decompression Therapy
  • Reduces chronic pain in the back and neck
  • Decreases pressure on spinal nerves
  • Restores disc height and spinal alignment
  • Improves mobility and posture
  • Non-invasive, drug-free, and safe for most patients
  • Can complement physiotherapy and massage therapy
What to Expect During Treatment

Each session lasts about 20–30 minutes, during which you’ll lie comfortably on a specialized decompression table.
The system gently alternates between traction and relaxation phases, allowing your spine to stretch naturally without discomfort.
Most patients experience a gradual reduction in pain and stiffness after a series of treatments, with ongoing improvements as healing continues.

Common Side Effects
  • Soreness or muscle spasm after treatment (similar to post-stretch discomfort).
  • Temporary increase in pain for 24–48 hours as tissues adjust.
  • Mild joint or ligament strain if traction force is too high or ramped too quickly.
  • Lightheadedness when standing up post-treatment (due to posture change or reduced spinal pressure).
Rare Complications
  • Worsening of symptoms(if excessive force used or poor positioning).
  • Neurological symptoms — new onset numbness, tingling, or weakness.
  • Soft tissue injury — ligament or muscle strain.
  • Fracture or dislocation in patients with undiagnosed bone fragility.
  • Fainting or blood pressure fluctuation, especially in hypertensive or anxious patients.
Absolute Contraindications

Spinal decompression therapy should not be performed in the following situations:

  1. Spinal Fractures -Recent or unstable vertebral fractures
  2. Spinal Malignancy or Cancer Spine or pelvis
  3. Spinal Infections -Active osteomyelitis, discitis, tuberculosis, or systemic infection
  4. Post-Spinal Surgery – Recent /unhealed fusion, instrumentation
  5. Advanced Osteoporosis or Severe Bone Weakness
  6. Pregnancy
  7. Spinal or Abdominal Aneurysm
  8. Uncontrolled Hypertension or Cardiovascular Disease
  9. Acute Disc Herniation with Severe Neurological Deficit – progressive neurological loss, cauda equina symptoms, or loss of bladder/bowel control require emergency medical evaluation, not decompression.
